Half Term & Beyond…

With loads of activities taking place in our area this February, there’s no excuse for sitting on the sofa. Yes, we know it’s cold and it’s tempting to just turn up the heating and switch on the telly.

But Wakefield has some great attractions and events going on this half term and throughout Feb.

So, get your coats on and start exploring.

There’s the unique Food, Drink & Rhubarb festival from 23 Feb where you can watch cookery demos, sample street food or just watch the entertainment in the city centre.

Or, if history is more your cup of tea, head to Pontefract Castle or the National Coal Mining Museum and enjoy tours and interactive exhibitions.

For budding artists aged 10-13, book the Sculpture Masterclass and discover their inner Henry Moore.

If you’re the outdoors type and just fancy a ramble around the countryside, Wakefield has plenty of pretty trails, lakes and woods. From Nostell Priory’s vast grounds to the waterside walk at Newmiller Dam or the fascinating bird hides at Anglers Park, the only challenge you’ll have is deciding where to go.

And of course, for great entertainment under one roof, you could do worse than spend a day at Xscape. Try winter sports at Snowzone, shooting at Lazerzone, Tenpin Bowling, watch a blockbuster at one of 14 screens or eat at over a dozen places…phew! If you have any energy (or cash) left, you can bag a bargain at Junction 32 Shopping Outlet.
