The village of Alverthorpe has some shops, pubs, hair salons and there are supermarkets only a few minutes away. Wakefield Centre has a thriving retail offer and a great choice of cafés and restaurants. It’s a particularly popular evening destination and there are many events throughout the year, including the unusual ‘Rhubarb Festival’ and annual music festival, ‘Long division’.

Residents of Spring Fields can also enjoy being close to many parks and green areas. Places like Pugney’s Lake, where you can hire a boat or Thornes Park, one of Wakefield’s oldest green spaces. There are public football pitches and cricket clubs not too far away and for golfers, Wakefield Golf Club is very close too.

Getting About

The development is accessed via Flanshaw Lane which has regular bus services to Alverthorpe and the City Centre.

For drivers, the closeness of the M1 motorway, just minutes away, offers the opportunity to commute into Leeds and connect with the M62 in just 20 minutes.

Wakefield has two main rail stations, both with excellent links to London, travel times being just under two hours to Kings Cross.

Schools & Local Services

There are good schools within walking distance of Spring Fields, including C of E and RC schools. Wakefield College offers higher education and apprentice training, as well as some degree courses. Leeds University Campus is less than 12 miles away and offers graduate and post graduate studies.

Medical provision is provided by a small local surgery in Alverthorpe, although there is a larger clinic in the City, at Southgate Surgery.
